sara + junior

I met Sara in September through AmeriCorps. It was my first year and Sara’s second of serving with the North Florida Health Corps. Sara and I also volunteer together on Monday nights doing ArtVentures–a program that a former AmeriCorps member, Amy (more about her in the next post), set up to do art with children at a local homeless shelter.

Junior is originally from Haiti and moved here with his family when he was 9. He teaches high school and works to help catch the students up on their reading so they can pass the reading portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test .  He is so calm and compliments Sara perfectly.

I really hope to be invited to their wedding because they are such an enjoyable couple to be around. I laughed through most of their session! Sara always jokes that she’ll wear sweats at her wedding (I found her the perfect sweat shirt dress) and have a taco bar (found one of those too!)–but I’m not so sure she is joking.

I had trouble picking a spot for their session, but as I was driving home one day I spotted a carnival and knew that had to be where we started. I think they fit in perfectly there because of their fun nature.

There is going to be a marathon of pictures–because I just can’t choose!

blog12This one give me chills

blog13blog14blog15blog16blog17blog18After the gorgeous greenery, we headed downtown for some urban action. I really wanted to shoot Sara and Junior here because they are originally from Minnesota. When the move from Jacksonville, I want them to have memories of the city on record.

blog19It’s getting hot in here!!

blog20The sun finally decided to come out from behind the clouds…

blog21I love all the layers of the city here.

Thank you Sara and Junior for being absolutely perfect subjects!

Sara - I am so excited that we had the opportunity to shoot with you! I had so much fun and am thrilled with the results.

Next up – engagement/wedding!

P.S. I’ve actually decided that I want a taco AND fajita bar now!

jenn - beautiful work, darling! xoo

Celia Golightly - You know I’ve commented about a million times on this stuff, but I can’t compliment you enough. :) Tell me again: Why are you applying to another term of AmeriCorps and NOT dropping Jax like it’s hot and photographing your way through life?
