A morning caffe.
Daily market goods. This made our lunch and dinner.
THE best pasta of my entire life. No joke. (uncooked in picture)
“Le fragole hanno scelto fresco dalla foresta.”
Strawberries picked fresh from the forest.
One of my favorite shots so far.
The vehicles here make me double over with laughter at least twice a day.
It is Carnivale season.
Everyday scenes.
“Duo caffe, per favore.”
Sidewalk cafes and bicycles.

Today’s highlights
-little boy dressed up in a beaver suit at the park
-acting like an ape-person at the market. Apparently I cannot speak Italian OR English and I just go- “uhh.. derrruhh. guhh” and use the stick-out-hand-with-money-and-hope-the-shopkeeper-is-honest method.
- the crazy gypsy lady who followed around the piazza, shaking her cup at us for a full 5 minutes
- first gelatto experience (on crack) = scaldare/warm waffle con nutella e gelatto alla stracciatella (chocolate chip/shavings)
-

HAHA to the highlights of the day!

Oh goodness, I’m already in love with the ‘daily live’ shots. Italy is top in my “places I want to go” so needless to say I’m beyond envious/excited for you.
I tried to learn Italian last January (took a single online course), but I’m not sure how successful it was–I still can’t speak or write, but I can understand! Then again… I’ve always been able to understand since Spanish is my native tongue, so I don’t know how to help other than “spend as much time outside eavesdropping” so that you can get a feel of the sounds. After a bit of real-life-entertainment you’ll pick up on what’s being said even if not sure of the specifics. I’m sure you’ll have it no problem.
You *will* fall in love with Italy. You *will* love having simple, fresh ingredients for all your meals. You *will* be spoiled for life. American chocolate, coffee, gelati, and the whole spectrum of vegetables will seem so bland and dull. You will never need to freeze anything. And you might just turn into a cuddly little Italian girl, even if you do run, walk and cycle around the city. This is like watching one of my beloved godchildren let loose in a toyshop.
