katelynvonfeldt.com bio picture

I have big feet and a bigger heart. I love to love and I love to give. I’m a brownie-baking, apron-sewing, picture-taking plain-ole silly girl. I’m a little too emotional and a lot too busy. I love my friends and family and their never-ending patience with me. I have way too many creative ideas and not enough time to complete them all. I am gullible, addicted to carbs, and my handwriting looks like a 1st grader’s. My camera is my outlet, my safe haven, my friend. Pictures are my words.

Bookmark this page and check back often! This is the place where you can see my most recent work. I will post my latest session images and sneak-peeks, promotions, and personal pictures.

Marla + Brandon

Thunder is currently shaking my apartment and lightning is lighting up the sky. I am so happy that the rain held off until we finished our session. It rained all afternoon yesterday and should have today-yet another session that was just meant to happen.

The morning started off a little rough. I slept through my 5:30 am wake up call and didnt get up until 15 minutes after I should have safely left for my drive to Georgia for Marla’s session (we wanted to start early before the sun got to bright). But, I made it on time. We started the session off at the sugar mill ruins in St. Mary’s, Georgia. I love that spot!

Brandon bought a body casting kit for Marla. When she contacted me a few months ago to shoot her maternity pictures, she said she wanted to take pictures of them doing it together. I have a whole series taken during the event that are really great documentary shots- but they’re a little too private to post here ;)

Then, we did a few black and white portraits (I know you love BW, Marla!)

Natalie + cravings

Just finished up some “commercial” type shots and now am able to focus on Natalie’s. I have to get these done quick! My spring promotion was a pretty big hit- I have more sessions than I know what to do with in the next few weeks!

Natalie + Caroline

I don’t think I have ever had so much at a photo session. This one was just meant to happen.

On Tuesday, I sent out my spring promotion via email to some former clients. On Wednesday, Natalie (who lives in Tennessee) contacted me to see if I coulf fit her in. She was leaving to visit her mom here in Jacksonville in less than 2 days. Normally my schedule is jam-packed between AmeriCorps, my job at the assisted living, volunteering, and photography, but we were able to make it happen.

Today, it turned chilly and cloudy while I was working and I thought the worst. Not 30 minutes, before I was due to arrive at Natalie’s mother’s house- the sun came out.

Just a couple of preview pictures-because i couldn’t hardly wait to edit these.

First, a super cool picture of Natalie’s baby bump. I LOVE THIS.

and caroline-oh the crowd that gathered around her cuteness

Argus argoflex.

I scored this pretty little thing (with its rad, purple-lined leather case) at the antique store down the road from my apartment. I love when I have a couple of hours to spend there. It is a beautiful maze of old things-all of them with a story.

Makes my heart happy.

Spring Promotion

I don’t know when it happened. I was driving home earlier this week and as I passed by Willow Branch Park, I noticed things were different. When had all that green appeared? During the winter the park is a drab palate of grey and muted green. Spanish moss hangs from the bare branches and the place is almost creepy. Not anymore. It has exploded with color and life. The trees, once again, display bright green leaves and the grass has suddenly come to life.

Spring is definitely on its way in!

What better way to celebrate than a sale?

this incredibly cute postcard was designed by the talented Shawn of Eclectic Whimsy Designs. From the beginning, she has been there for many of my design needs.

Welcome

Hello there.

This blog is still a work in progress-made possible by the amazing Lawrence.

The banner is temporary, as is most of what is currently featured.

Off to work on it some more, but I will leave you with a photo-for what is a photographer’s blog without lots and lots of them!?!

A shot from a recent photo walk around my neighborhood. I never tire of all the beautiful homes here.

Soon, all images on this blog will have a special watermark with my new logo. Stay tuned!
